
The University College of Economics and Culture
The University College of Economics and Culture (UCEC) – a private University College, accredited by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Latvia.
UCEC provides higher education in compliance with the guidelines and tasks set for higher education in the European Union. UCEC students have the opportunity to excel, develop their creativity and motivation for lifelong learning through diverse curriculum, cross-disciplinary research-led teaching and support. UCEC offers higher education that is in line with the current development trends in economy and society by working across the disciplines, sectors and professions and cooperating with partners from labour market, professional associations, education and research institutions in Latvia and abroad.
UCEC offers four professional bachelor study programmes, one second level higher professional education study programme, one bachelor and one master study programme, and two first level higher professional education (college) study programmes.
Professional Bachelor Study Programme
CULTURAL MANAGEMENT
The aim of the Cultural Management study programme is to train creative and highly-skilled specialists, who are able to initiate, design and manage a wide range of cultural events, activities and festivals, organize exhibitions and presentations. They are specialists with a deep understanding of the phenomena of culture and culturological processes, broad knowledge of world’s experience, who are aware of the cultural situation and tendencies in the EU. They are able to notice, inspire and foster cultural development prospects in future.
Professional Bachelor Study Programme
TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETATION
The aim of this programme is to train qualified interpreters and translators that are competitive in the labour market thanks to their professional skills, knowledge and qualities, and are open to their further development both when carrying out their professional duties or continuing their education in further stages.

INTERIOR DESIGN
The aim of this programme is to train creative, independent and innovative specialists who are able to perform their professional duties of an interior designer at a high quality. Their curriculum includes the following study courses: Colour Studies, Drawing, Ergonomics, Composition, Painting, Spatial Design, Theory of Interior Design, Spatial Modelling, Landscape Design and Layout, Designing of Interior Details and Elements, Furniture in Interior, Ecology, Photography, Innovations in Architecture, and Design, Lighting Design, Sustainable Development of Populated Areas etc.
Bachelor Study Programme
MANAGEMENT SCIENCES
This programme is designed for enhancing knowledge and developing skills that underpin management decision making and business planning processes, as well as management of private and public companies. The programme curriculum enables its graduates to start a new working career, bring positive changes in the current pace of their career or continue their studies in a master’s degree programme.
Professional Bachelor Study Programme
ACCOUNTING AND AUDIT
This professional bachelor study programme trains students for working in the branch of accounting and auditing and provides the possibility to acquire the knowledge and skills needed for an accountant and auditor, promote their development for achieving the level 5 professional qualification that enhances their competitiveness in the labour market in the changing socio-economical conditions.

BUSINESS ECONOMICS AND ADMINISTRATION
This 4-year professional study programme offers a comprehensive and diverse professional training, and its graduates can compete successfully in Latvian and EU labour markets. Its curriculum helps students gain professional knowledge and skills how to assess company's economic and financial status, analyse money flow, organise internal audit, plan development strategies, design and manage business projects. Besides, the programme provides students an opportunity to continue their studies in MA programmes.
First level higher professional education (college) study programme
Entertainment and Recreation Industry Management
A manager in entertainment and recreation industry develops and implements a wide range of creative projects – concerts, shows, festivals, TV programmes, etc. The students of this college programme study fashion industry, cinema industry, music industry, creative project management and many other aspects of this challenging and entertaining industry.
First level higher professional education (college) study programme
creative marketing and sales Management
Competition in trading increases every year and it means that more creative marketing approaches have to be applied. New professionals with innovative ideas can meet the changing needs of demanding consumers. The students of this college programme carry out market research projects, develop marketing plans, prepare information about products for their presentation, simulate contract conclusion negotiations and train other skills that they will need in their future profession.
Master programme
BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
This Master's degree study programme has been designed for those graduates of higher education institutions who have decided to start their career in business. Students of this programme study such aspects as business management in changing environment, business risk management, competitiveness, quality management systems etc. The curriculum is based on the latest theories and trends in the market, innovative approaches and enhancement of practical skills in business administration.
International cooperation
The UCEC has concluded cooperation agreements with higher education institutions in Italy, Spain, Germany, Poland, Lithuania and other European countries. In 2005 the European Commission awarded the ERASMUS University Charter to the UCEC. Participation in the EU education program ERASMUS allows the University College to develop within a uniform European context, and among others, provides for the student and tutor exchange between the UCEC and partner institutions.

ERASMUS dod studentiem iespēju vienu semestri studēt kādas citas dalībvalsts augstākajā mācību iestādē. Citā valstī pavadītā studiju laika akadēmisko atzīšanu nodrošina Eiropas kredītpunktu pārneses sistēma (ECTS). Par mācībām partneraugstskolā nav jāmaksā, bet šajā laika periodā ir jāmaksā parastā studiju maksa Ekonomikas un kultūras augstskolai.
Konkurss ERASMUS studijām notiek divreiz gadā, parasti tas norisinās oktobrī un martā/ aprīlī.
Mūsu augstskolas prakse ir sūtīt studentus mācīties uz ārzemēm vienu semestri. Studentiem ārzemju augstskolā ir jāiegūst tikpat kredītpunkti, cik attiecīgajā semestrī būtu jāiegūst, studējot EKA. Studentiem jāatceras, ka semestrī studiju darbi un prakses tomēr ir jākārto uz vietas pirms vai pēc atgriešanās, bet bez papildus samaksas.
Lai piedalītos konkursā, studentam nedrīkst būt akadēmisko un finansu parādu. Vērā tiek ņemtas studenta sekmes, angļu valodas zināšanas, studenta papildus aktivitātes (piemēram, studentu pašpārvaldē), kā arī nodaļas vadītāju rekomendācijas.
Šobrīd ERASMUS ietvaros ir noslēgti sadarbības līgumi ar šādām augstskolām – Vilniaus universiteto Tarptautinio verslo mokyklos, Vilnius kolegija un Klaipeda kolegija Lietuvā, Uniwersytet Ekonomiczny we Wrocławiu, Wyzsza Szkola Bankowa we Wroclawiu, Wyzsza Szkola Zarzadzania i Finansow we Wroclawiu un University of Vincent Pol Polijā, Univerza v Ljubljani Slovēnijā, kā ari Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca Itālijā, Universidad de Jaen un Escuela de Arte y Superior de Diseňo Spānijā, Soukromá vysoká škola ekonomuckých studii Čehijā.
